If I'm talking to a woman/girl, I'd say "G'day" or "G'day, [name]". Others may use it when speaking to a female.

But I use it for any male, even people I've never met. I've even used it speaking to a cop after being stopped for a random breath test. I hadn't been drinking so I could afford to be pretty relaxed.
