It looks we'll see dogs and rain, which are two elements that haven't had much of an impact on the show, and I always thought in a real life Zombie apocalypse, in the rural south, both would be factors.

the temperatures drop below freezing several dozen times a year in the wintertime... you'd think that might have been a factor as well without electricity and other modern amenities. Make a fire outdoors and your risk attracting unsavory people and/or walkers. Make it indoors and you risk burning the house down.

I googled it on another website when somebody complained that LA and Atlanta were too similar in climate for a zombie apocalypse show to be set there... LA has virtually none.

If the group journies north to Richmond and then to DC, the climate will get even colder in the winter and snow will be an obstacle. (Richmond has 80+ days where temps go below freezing - almost double Atlanta)

It was a clear nod and then didn't happen. I don't think that will happen on the show. And Kirkman's too good to let something like that slip if it is going to happen.

Or I'm completely wrong.

Seems to me Kirkman is always so eager to misdirect the show's fans that he teeters of the brink of giving out false information. Like I remember on the Talking Dead after the prison exodus, the show panel was speculating on baby Judith's fate and Kirkman (or so it sounded to me) was talking like she was definitely dead. Later when she was shown to be alive, I remember making a mental note not to take anything he says at face value.

I tend to think the show's three untouchable characters are Rick, Darryl and Glenn. Of course I'll probably be proven wrong.

are really the only untouchables. Tier two is Daryl, Michonne and maybe Glenn & Maggie. Abraham hasn't done enough to make it to untouchable status yet.

In the comics, Andrea is also an untouchable, I think.

Rick is early to mid 40s maybe? Say maybe born 1970 or 72?

I'm late 40s now, and my grandfather was actually a bit too old to fight in WW2 - early 30s by the time Pearl Harbor came around. My brother was born in 1970, so is mid 40s...

So, if Rick's grandfather was born 1920-24, he could have been in WW2, that would mean Rick's father was a boomer born in the late 40s

The show is seeming more depressing to me. Which is an odd thing to say considering the subject matter I guess. I was so excited for the show's return but now it's just giving me a case of the sads.

I think I would like to see more characters I can truly hate (another Lori perhaps). No matter who dies now, it's not going to be all that fun. Not even Carl, who is no longer the annoying little fucker he once was.

Probably just my current frame of mind and hopefully they've got some edge of your seat episodes in store that will remind me why I'm so hooked on this show. Even in it's valleys, it's still the best thing on TV, IMO.

Wed Feb 18, 2015, 09:18 AM
Feb 2015

When society fell they were well protected in their community and didn't go through the real hardships like everyone else. So these people are "soft" like vanilla, while Rick's people are battle-tested & hard as nails. The community needs Rick's crew of rough-necks as much as Rick's group needs a sanctuary.

I'll stop with further details, but Rick then does something quite stunning that will probably be the cliff-hanger until next season in OCT because Kirkman tends to drag things out.

OR:
I'm completely full of crap and just super-trolling the thread.

Give me some duct tape, a carpet, and a sharp knife and I could put together an anti-bite suit in a day. Sure, it will be hot as balls, so maybe you have it and put it on when going into buildings/known zombie areas.

Or motorcycle leathers/motorcross armor. Motorcycle helmet.

Hell, just some shim guards, greaves, bracers, and neck/head protection would have prevented 90% of Z deaths on the show.
