(5,604 posts)It looks we'll see dogs and rain, which are two elements that haven't had much of an impact on the show, and I always thought in a real life Zombie apocalypse, in the rural south, both would be factors.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)the temperatures drop below freezing several dozen times a year in the wintertime... you'd think that might have been a factor as well without electricity and other modern amenities. Make a fire outdoors and your risk attracting unsavory people and/or walkers. Make it indoors and you risk burning the house down.
I googled it on another website when somebody complained that LA and Atlanta were too similar in climate for a zombie apocalypse show to be set there... LA has virtually none.
If the group journies north to Richmond and then to DC, the climate will get even colder in the winter and snow will be an obstacle. (Richmond has 80+ days where temps go below freezing - almost double Atlanta)

(22,340 posts)It was a clear nod and then didn't happen. I don't think that will happen on the show. And Kirkman's too good to let something like that slip if it is going to happen.
Or I'm completely wrong.
CrawlingChaos
(1,893 posts)Seems to me Kirkman is always so eager to misdirect the show's fans that he teeters of the brink of giving out false information. Like I remember on the Talking Dead after the prison exodus, the show panel was speculating on baby Judith's fate and Kirkman (or so it sounded to me) was talking like she was definitely dead. Later when she was shown to be alive, I remember making a mental note not to take anything he says at face value.
I tend to think the show's three untouchable characters are Rick, Darryl and Glenn. Of course I'll probably be proven wrong.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)are really the only untouchables. Tier two is Daryl, Michonne and maybe Glenn & Maggie. Abraham hasn't done enough to make it to untouchable status yet.
In the comics, Andrea is also an untouchable, I think.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)should be interesting to see how the group is handling the loss of Beth and Tyreese.

I thought it was poison. However, I suspect that the writers would have preferred your take, since the hunt for water seems to be an issue in this episode.

(56,829 posts)Rick is early to mid 40s maybe? Say maybe born 1970 or 72?
I'm late 40s now, and my grandfather was actually a bit too old to fight in WW2 - early 30s by the time Pearl Harbor came around. My brother was born in 1970, so is mid 40s...
So, if Rick's grandfather was born 1920-24, he could have been in WW2, that would mean Rick's father was a boomer born in the late 40s

But if so, they all seemed to be having the same dream.
NOPE, it was no dream.
you're right - it was not a dream. That was a lot of walkers taken out by the storm - unless it was a tornado or something
Joe Shlabotnik
(5,604 posts)A rather convenient downed tree regardless!

(17,621 posts)CrawlingChaos
(1,893 posts)The show is seeming more depressing to me. Which is an odd thing to say considering the subject matter I guess. I was so excited for the show's return but now it's just giving me a case of the sads.
I think I would like to see more characters I can truly hate (another Lori perhaps). No matter who dies now, it's not going to be all that fun. Not even Carl, who is no longer the annoying little fucker he once was.
Probably just my current frame of mind and hopefully they've got some edge of your seat episodes in store that will remind me why I'm so hooked on this show. Even in it's valleys, it's still the best thing on TV, IMO.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)was supposed to be the group at its low point (so far) Hopefully, things will get a bit better over the last 6 episodes.
Iris
(15,666 posts)It just felt so ominous. Or the opposite. Like a reminder that there are always bad people around, with our without a zombie apocalypse
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)looked like she had been kidnapped, and the kidnappers/drivers must have died or abandoned the car?
Iris
(15,666 posts)What a sickening thing for Maggie to find after all she'd just been through.

NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)and, didn't realize the guy playing Eugene was so big - they do a good job of making him seem wimpy on the show.
RiffRandell
(5,909 posts)Where's Judith?
They need to come across a baby stroller because lugging her around is a huge inconvenience.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)that's the only thing I can think of?
Iggo
(47,565 posts)I mean, jeez!
RiffRandell
(5,909 posts)I can go on and on. Not to be gross, but you can't tell me she doesn't have diaper rash being hauled around in that heat. She's cute, but a burden.
Yuck!
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)I'm guessing Desitin was not the first thing people grabbed off the shelves of the local Wal-Mart when the zombie apocalypse started happening... plus, it probably has a pretty good shelf life.

(47,565 posts)GOLGO 13
(1,681 posts)When society fell they were well protected in their community and didn't go through the real hardships like everyone else. So these people are "soft" like vanilla, while Rick's people are battle-tested & hard as nails. The community needs Rick's crew of rough-necks as much as Rick's group needs a sanctuary.
I'll stop with further details, but Rick then does something quite stunning that will probably be the cliff-hanger until next season in OCT because Kirkman tends to drag things out.
OR:
I'm completely full of crap and just super-trolling the thread.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)but, most here have not.
I wonder if we'll get Jesus next season?
Telcontar
(660 posts)Give me some duct tape, a carpet, and a sharp knife and I could put together an anti-bite suit in a day. Sure, it will be hot as balls, so maybe you have it and put it on when going into buildings/known zombie areas.
Or motorcycle leathers/motorcross armor. Motorcycle helmet.
Hell, just some shim guards, greaves, bracers, and neck/head protection would have prevented 90% of Z deaths on the show.
NewJeffCT
(56,829 posts)when they were at the prison - they should have gone back to take it, or found a way to get more.
