Wicked Cold...

everyone stay warm

sitting here listening to the wind howl feeling fortunate not having to go out...

WIND CHILLS OF THIS MAGNITUDE MAY CAUSE FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED SKIN IN LESS THAN 15 MINUTES... A WIND CHILL WARNING MEANS THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUSLY LOW WIND CHILL VALUES. THIS WILL RESULT IN FROSTBITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA OR DEATH IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN

I wouldn't last a minute out there

We are 1600 miles apart and most of the time I wish we were closer. Right now, I'm ok with it.

have a place to go when the temps go down this much? Scary! Keep warm! Tonight we get a taste of this but our highs will be in the 50's tomorrow which is still pretty cold for us here in Central Texas.

They issue a code blue and try to get all the homeless off the street.

The biggest issue we have is that most of the shelters are sober shelters. It deters some homeless from going if they have alcohol issues. We've lost a couple in the past couple of years because of that issue.

I believe there are kind-hearted bars, believe it or not, that will take in the intoxicated homeless.

I'm out in the country, so I honestly don't know. The local news did show warming centers, but they were during daylight hours. I sure hope there are places for the homeless to go at night. (I live 40 miles out from the city.) In our little town, there is a church that helps the homeless, especially families, but I don't know if they are open to transients.
