Man killed after bowing in front of Amtrak train in Fremont

http://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/Man-killed-after-bowing-in-front-of-Amtrak-train-6092337.php

A man was struck and killed by a train Friday in Fremont, moments after witnesses saw him walk onto the tracks, turn to face the train and bow, police said.

The victim, an adult male whose name was not immediately released, was hit by a northbound Amtrak train at a crossing on Dusterberry Way near Peralta Boulevard in the city’s Centerville neighborhood about 9:30 a.m., said Fremont police Sgt. Tony Tassano.

Witnesses said they saw the man walking with a cane as the crossing arms went down and the train’s horn sounded, Tassano said. The man walked onto the tracks, looked at the train, turned toward it and did “kind of a bowing movement,” Tassano said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

But I guess if you are suicidal, you probably aren't thinking right to begin with.

It sounds like an old man who felt he had nothing left to live for and wanted to die. I think Darwin Awards are more appropriate for people who do incredibly stupid things and expect to live and it it seen as a good thing they are eliminated from the gene pool.

Not jokes.

Who knows why he did it? He took the explanation with him.

It's sad.
