Things you've learned here on DU.

I have to admit after seeing the Narwhals thread earlier today I remember learning that Narwhals are actually REAL! I thought it was an internet funny!

Yes... yes. I had no idea.

What weird things have you learned here on DU?

Someone accused Wesley Clark of being involved with some weapons that caused Haitian men to grow boobs.

It was one of the more amusing claims during that primary season.

9. Things I learned here:
Fri Feb 20, 2015, 10:57 PM
Feb 2015

-Everyone is not what they claim to be.
-The way to become popular on DU is either by posting cat threads, or by getting into a bunch of arguments.
-Wal-Mart and McDonald's underpay their workers.
-There are other people on the Internet besides me who aren't wingnuts.
-News anchors are referred to as "talking heads", while Congressmen/women are referred to as "critters."
-That there are 2 categories of domestic issues: social and economic.
-That there are intolerant people on both sides of the spectrum, but more on the Right.
-The opinions of DU don't necessarily mirror the opinions of Democrats and progressives in the outside world.
-MSNBC is not as LW as FOX News is RW, and CNN is like FOX News Jr.

be dissing Joni (Ernst) the phony with her bread bags on her feet trekking to school uphill both ways with the bread bags on her feet. She truly is a step - ford wife.

Stepbread wife? She's just so damned odd. She has that weird reptilian stare like she's smiling at you and thinking about how to serve your various body parts in a cold appetizer.

I just remembered that! I can only assume it's because we were endowed with Kmart brands, not known for top quality. It also helped with heavy socks slipping our feet in, etc. FLASHBACK!!

I hate winter. I hate snow. I like to look at it for about 20 minutes and let the doggy play in it to amuse me of course. Other than that, I REALLY hate snow. Growing up, way upstate NY outside Syracuse will instill that in ya.

16. What I've learned
Sat Feb 21, 2015, 12:06 AM
Feb 2015

in cooking and baking alone in techniques, spices and general knowledge could be a culinary arts degree.

There are some *seriously* talented folks that visit that forum, and they are more than willing to impart their knowledge if you just ASK. I'm probably a 300% better cook than I was before I joined DU.

And thanks to pinboy3niner, I'm better at making puns, too!

Tapirs have impressive...qualities.

If you're Southern you are going to have to either fight or hold your tongue a lot.

No piece of info is so esoteric that someone on DU doesn't know something about it...really!

There are people here who will go a very long way to help others.

Because even if a post is just a copy paste of an article somewhere, there are important things posted I probably wouldn't have seen if not a DUer

That there are some very knowledgeable people that are happy to share their knowledge. Most of whom are kind people who really want you to understand.

That there are some talented writers here

That many of the people who I respected and were here from the beginning, have left.

That some people go to posts just to dump on the post.

That the alert button is used mostly to stop people from sharing ideas others don't agree with.

I just learned, here, tonight, that Skittles will kick some ass!
