There are a number of good surf songs but this one mentions Manhattan Beach, my home town, and surfbreak.

During the 70's I took a marine mechanics class taught by Bob Berryhill a guitarist from the Safari's.

but a lot of surf bands played this tune in the 60s. The Ventures did a cover version in 1962 as well as The Surfaris. The original instrumental was by the English group The Shadows recorded in 1960. The video has a cool look.

The answer to both is no, not really. (I like some surf music, but can't think offhand of a favorite .)

Their "Surfing" album contained just a string of perfect "mood" pieces that captured the spirit more perfectly than any other album I ever heard, and I heard all the Beach Boys and Jan & Dean records that were out at the time.

My father was a huge Dick Dale fan so I grew up listening to a lot of his music and in the 90's I found this band and really dug on them.

But, I have no idea how to find that. I think it was only released in the Carolinas.

Loved that song.
