And a child shall lead them those are the words that came to mind as I watched this video of a young man honoring the memories of those who perished on D-Day. It is well worth seven minutes of your time.
The simple act of devotion from this 11-year-old American boy is more than commensurate to honor the last full measure of devotion of young American boys some 70 years prior.
Every now and then, when there are times of despair, despondency, and desperation we just need a little reminder of the greatness and goodness of America.

(8,976 posts)I'll go with just one obvious lie and ignore him "seeing spirits" crossing the channel....
At the 4 minute mark the tide comes over his feet-RIGHT? Then how at the 5 1/2 minute mark can the tide have retreated so far back when the bugler plays? How fucking fast ARE the tides at Normandy?
And I'd love to know how (and why) he got banned when trying to go to the cemetery the third day.
He's a cute kid and patriotic and maybe even a history buff. But that video is a fraud.

(4,033 posts)(now 23) to Gettysburg, he wondered about the "ghosts of Gettysburg. He had read books about ghosts that people said they had encountered. I was not the one to answer the question for him, so he approached a Park Ranger and asked him about ghosts.
The Ranger had a great answer for my nephew. He never used the word ghost, what he told him was that the "spirits" of the men who fought at Gettysburg remained. It was the spirits of the men who left their families and livelihoods to fight for a cause, who were wounded and died. That spirit of these men remained at Gettysburg for over 100 years. That people who came to this sacred ground could feel the spirit of these men.
So I would say That this young man did not see the spirits of men crossing the Channel, but instead felt and understood the presence of these men at Omaha Beach.
