(56,912 posts)Cause I know for a fact that the Cooper River is fricking muddy but, you can find huge shark teeth in the river bed. It helps to have a flashlight. It is really dark down there.

(54,448 posts)The shark teeth are fossils from 60 million years ago.
The chances of you meeting up with any of their original owners alive are rather remote. I never heard of a shark living to be any older than 50 million years.

(41,760 posts)I saw it 4 years ago while it was still in the salt water tank.
Very sad and eerie at the same time.
Very good museum.

(29,582 posts)I didn't know there was more than one Confederate sub.
What do you know about the other ones?
Please share with us.

(51,308 posts)If you've heard about the "grey man of Pawley's Island," then you might know about the ghost subs.

(29,582 posts)Yet another reason to avoid that hell hole.
If I ever have to drive to Florida again I'm going via Alabama.
No the subs came from Mississippi

I didn't know that about Montana however.
I thought Montana was known for dental floss.

(23,340 posts)CSS David operated as a semi-submersible: water was taken into ballast tanks so that only the length of the open-top conning tower and the stack for the boiler appeared above water.[1] Designed to operate very low in the water, David resembled in general a submersible submarine; she was, however, strictly a surface vessel. Operating on dark nights, and using anthracite coal (which burns without smoke), David was nearly as hard to see as a true submarine.[citation needed]

Did not know about this.
