Yeah. If the caller ID is an 800 number or says "UNKNOWN CALLER", don't pick up. HopeHoops Mar 2012 #4

They were driving me nuts two weeks ago before the Michigan primary.

They'll be gone like frost in the sunlight after your primary is over.

Well, I see you are also getting telemarketers. Are you on the federal Do Not Call list? If not, you should be.

With taped phone calls there is no way to report a number ( I have a portable phone with no way to see who is calling)

Looks like my best bet is to let it ring 4 times then the machine will pick it up. It is not like we get many real phone calls here anyhow.

for "charities" at my house.

We usually just let them go to the answering machine, but the other day I was feeling rather annoyed, so I picked up and there was a real person on the other end who knew my name.

I grabbed the electronic Anti Telemarketer Fart Machine I keep near my phone and gave her a few juicy blasts.

Made me happy the rest of the day.

Juvenile? Probably. But I figure it's better than yelling and/or swearing at them.

whether the machine answers or I answer and hang up.
Ignoring the robo calls does not seem to work, they just keep ringing back.

If we will only answer a brief survey. Who falls for this crap? Someone must or they wouldn't be still pulling this scam. We still have a land-line, we never use it, it comes with Comcast, I should just unplug the damn thing. Dixiegrrrrl, maybe throwing the damn thing out the door is a good idea, just temporarily.

HE has a cell phone, AND insists on the land line.

I hate phones, can and have gone for months not talking on one.
but, gotta admit, here in tornado/hurricane country, a land line is important.
Those cell towers may fall, but the land line is buried.

Hell with it, let the machine sort them out.....
