The cost of a personality analysis is minimum one hundred words of prose.

You may remember Watson, IBM's AI offering, which in the past has trounced human Jeopardy players and more recently has been supporting oncologists with diagnoses and treatment recommendations at Sloane-Kettering. Anyhow, they have now added a new feather into Watson's cap; namely that of amateur psychologist.

If you enter a minimum of 100 words of prose into the box at the link below, then you'll get an interesting to the point of bewildering breakdown of your personality as revealed by your prose. I expect it is probably better if you can find some paragraphs you've written prior to now, as this will dodge any writers block you may encounter whilst you are trying to impress a computer.

The link : http://watson-um-demo.mybluemix.net/?reset=true

Part of the analyisis for the first two paragraphs (117 words):

You are heartfelt, analytical and strict.

You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. You are calm under pressure: you handle unexpected events calmly and effectively. And you are assertive: you tend to speak up and take charge of situations, and you are comfortable leading groups.

Your choices are driven by a desire for revelry.

You are relatively unconcerned with both tradition and taking pleasure in life. You care more about making your own path than following what others have done. And you prefer activities with a purpose greater than just personal enjoyment.

I tried a few other blog entries and it was pretty consistent. I can't say I agree that the results reflect my personality (it actually runs counter to my Myers Briggs type) - but some of it does resonate. Fascinating! (I love this stuff)

the summary -

You are analytical, restrained and unaggressive.

You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. You are calm-seeking: you prefer activities that are quiet, calm, and safe. And you are self-assured: you feel you have the ability to succeed in the tasks you set out to do.

Your choices are driven by a desire for self-expression.

You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done. You consider independence to guide a large part of what you do: you like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them.

or maybe I'm impatient. But it's been analyzing me for a couple minutes now...oops. No results.

It's not working at *all* for me. The first time I clicked analyze, it did a little globe thing while it thought about it. Then went blank. I clicked analyze again and a screen captcha came up, but it won't let me submit it.

Eventually I gave up and closed the browser. Started from scratch. Still won't work.

You are boisterous, explosive and sentimental.

You are assertive: you tend to speak up and take charge of situations, and you are comfortable leading groups. You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. And you are intermittent: you have a hard time sticking with difficult tasks for a long period of time.

Your choices are driven by a desire for prestige.

You consider independence to guide a large part of what you do: you like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them. You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done.

_______
Meh. I do have a hard time sticking to tasks, but otherwise pretty much the opposite of what they offered as an "analysis". LOL

You are sentimental, unpretentious and can be perceived as shortsighted.

You are organized: you feel a strong need for structure in your life. You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. And you are susceptible to stress: you are easily overwhelmed in stressful situations.

Your choices are driven by a desire for efficiency.

You are relatively unconcerned with both taking pleasure in life and independence. You prefer activities with a purpose greater than just personal enjoyment. And you welcome when others direct your activities for you.

Hmmm, I do not welcome when others direct my activities for me. Don't even try it. And aside from certain obsessions I am the most disorganized person I know. In stressful situations I get coldly analytical, stop the major hemorrhaging, call whatever version of 911 is appropriate, and get the hell out just as soon as possible.

You are shrewd, skeptical and can be perceived as indirect.

You are imaginative: you have a wild imagination. You are philosophical: you are open to and intrigued by new ideas and love to explore them. And you are reserved: you are a private person and don't let many people in.

Your choices are driven by a desire for prestige.

You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done. You consider achieving success to guide a large part of what you do: you seek out opportunities to improve yourself and demonstrate that you are a capable person.

No, I don't give a flying fuck about "prestige" or demonstrating to anyone that I'm a capable person. Nobody thinks I'm "indirect," they just notice I rarely talk, and when I do I'm often too direct.

You are skeptical, somewhat critical and excitable.

You are independent: you have a strong desire to have time to yourself. You are unconcerned with art: you are less concerned with artistic or creative activities than most people who participated in our surveys. And you are carefree: you do what you want, disregarding rules and obligations.

Your choices are driven by a desire for efficiency.

You are relatively unconcerned with achieving success: you make decisions with little regard for how they show off your talents. You consider independence to guide a large part of what you do: you like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them.

Okay, I'm skeptical and somewhat critical. I work best by myself, I demand time for myself. I make decisions with little regard, well, for most things, let alone "showing off my talents."

But this one is a big fail. I am an artist. Humans are artists, it's what we do.

If I were to score this site, I'd say it's little better than a newspaper horoscope or fortune cookie.

My Fortune Cookie confirms it:

You have a deep appreciation
of the arts and music.

Let's try my favorite passage ever and see..

You are a bit compulsive and unconventional.

You are laid-back: you appreciate a relaxed pace in life. You are empathetic: you feel what others feel and are compassionate towards them. And you are independent: you have a strong desire to have time to yourself.

Your choices are driven by a desire for organization.

You are relatively unconcerned with tradition: you care more about making your own path than following what others have done. You consider independence to guide a large part of what you do: you like to set your own goals to decide how to best achieve them.
