Indian bride walks out of wedding when groom fails math test

http://news.yahoo.com/groom-fails-math-test-indian-bride-walks-wedding-065433753.html

An Indian bride walked out of her wedding ceremony after the groom failed to solve a simple math problem, police said Friday.

The bride tested the groom on his math skills and when he got the sum wrong, she walked out....

The groom's family tried persuading the bride to return, but she refused. She said the groom had misled them about his education.

"The groom's family kept us in the dark about his poor education," said Mohar Singh, the bride's father. "Even a first grader can answer this."

He would have been OK and within the tea party guide lines if he had added "after taxes." n/t A Simple Game Mar 2015 #7

I didn't really like math. I read novels all through high school.
I have had three divorces. WTF?

and I have no idea why! My mother was a librarian, but that was years before she married; she was, however, clearly very literate, as was Dad, an attorney. (My brother and I followed Dad in our careers.)

so it's not a love match, simply a contract.

Obviously the groom didn't live up to the terms of the contract.

What I want to know is if he did it on purpose to get out of the marriage?? Who knows, maybe the two of them cooked this up together if they didn't like each other at all. Easy way to get out of the deal!

More likely though is the fact that India's huge gender balance from female infanticide is catching up to the population and women are finally understanding they have all the cards...

If "being good at math" was one of her prerequisites, maybe she should have tested him BEFORE exchanging gifts and jewelry, booking a hall, and undergoing the six-hour bride-assembling process.

and hoped to like him enough.

Clearly, she didn't. I'm glad she figured out an escape route in time.
