Can I just say I hate moving?

My husband and I sold our home and are downsizing for health reasons. We are going from 3,000. SF to 1,000 small condo. We got rid of a bunch of furniture and other things but I am SPENT! UGH!

This is the worst move of my entire life, and I've moved! Have some sympathy?

We are moving from the east coast back to the pacific NW next month! When we get out there, we will be looking for our home we will prepare for our golden years.

Treat yourself kindly! What a stressing situation moving can be!

Here's to future good memories in your new home!

Thought so.

I was a CIA brat, so that's where my sneakiness comes from.

I'm trying to get my husband to get rid of some things now, in anticipation of an eventual downgrade.

So much stuff, so little time.

It's going to be a huge headache when we eventually do.

This last move, I really played that card, until Mr. Dixie got wise about 3 weeks later.

You have all my sympathy.
I knew, somehow, 10 years ago that this house would be our last move.
Whew.

Got rid of everything and moved 10,000 miles with only three large duffle bags worth of stuff. The whole experience was both stressful and liberating.

We did it when we moved from Nebraska to North Carolina. I got rid of a LOT of stuff--had
an amazing garage sale--and still ended up with too much furniture even though I'd laid out
furniture arrangements--based on room sizes. Had to call an estate sale person when
we got to NC to come get some more furniture and consign it.

Good luck with the move and getting settled in.

We are getting rid of junk with plans to downsize in a couple of years. Right now we are tackling the basement and garage so the waterproofers can work down there.

And both of my kids are moving this year!

In January, I moved from a 2-bedroom mobile home to one bedroom at my son's house. I sold it and left a lot of things behind for the new owners. But I have a huge storage unit in the back yard of his house for all the things and furniture I could not bear to part with.

Moving sucks. I hate looking for a new place, saving money for a move, hiring movers,, etc. I really hate packing up my stuff so I always wait until the last minute. I always plan to be organized but I end up throwing everything in the boxes. I never have enough boxes no matter how many I collect. I never realize how much stuff I have until I try to pack it.

However, I like it when the moving part is over and I'm surrounded by boxes in my new place. I enjoy unpacking and figuring out where to put my things. I always order a pizza. It is fun to start fresh in a new place. I'm a pretty adventurous person so I like to explore my new home. I get to experience a new neighborhood. Maybe a new city or state depending on how big a move it was.

Good luck with your move. Hopefully, it will be over soon and you won't have to do it again for a long time.

I had yard sales on both ends, but you know what? You'll be glad you did, because if you wish to change anything in the smaller home, it's going to be very efficient. After living in our smaller home for 15 years, we renovated… It's JUST right, now.

Celebrate afterwards!

Our last move was from a 125 m² apartment to a 240 m² house about 300 meters farther up the road. The kids were getting bigger and needed rooms of their own, and we wanted some more space to ourselves as well, even though I was away a lot. Now we're in a house that is sort of intact, but we aren't considering moving unless it's to another continent (i.e. if we move to the States together permanently).

How would you describe their music? From what you have posted here I can here some metal elements along with progressive rock and old school classic rock. I can hear an early Metallica influence in there as well as Pink Floyd and Rush.

It kind of wraps up that which I can not express without its presence to move me into its presence.

It has, however been an amazing flight ...

I had 17 years of stuff jammed into my condo, along with a couple dozen birds, a rabbit and a horse. Also a 25 year old, 5' tall norfolk island pine that I've had since it was a 5" tall little tyke.

I took weeks to recover it was so exhausting.

Now I'm trying to sell my home again so I can downsize the house from 1400 sf to 6-800 (but with lots more land). And I dread even the thought of moving, but gotta do what I gotta do if at all possible. I'm down to 3 birds, but up to 2 dogs and 2 horses. At least the dog's property is relatively tiny.

You have my deepest sympathy but at least you were able to sell your 3,000 foot house. Remember, this too shall pass and once you've recovered you'll be set in place hopefully for a good, long time.

Now I'm in a panic mode about getting rid of a washer/dryer. I may be forced to leave it behind.

But, yeah, it is really a pain. I hate it too and I've moved lots.
