P.S. I loved the pic of you in the peep dress.

(72,300 posts)oh, and I gotta be out on I 84 early tomorrow morning. I was trying to avoid working until winter stopped making travel dangerous.
On March 4, 2015, at approximately 715 a.m., the New York State Police responded to a multiple vehicle accident, located on I-84 westbound between Exit 1 and the Pa state-line.
This crash on Interstate 84 in the Town of Greenville involved 23 vehicles.

(72,300 posts)Even when I'm slip sliding around.
If it gets too nasty I'll call the driver to let him know I'll be late. Heaven knows I've waited for this guy before. He's one of the nice ones so he won't get upset with me.

(54,256 posts)Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful.
And since we've got no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
Oh, it doesn't show signs of stopping,
And I've brought some corn for popping.
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But, if you really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm!
The fire is slowly dying,
And my dear, we're still good-by-ing.
But, as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It snow!

(54,256 posts)We all have our 'natural' disasters ("Natural"? Global Climate Change anyone?) to deal with.
Some are worse than others.
Down here it's hurricanes.
At least we get some warning.
Tornadoes not so much.
I've lived up north.
The coldest I've ever been in my life was trying to do an exterior pre-flight on a B-727 at O'Hare with a 20 below windchill.
Turns out the pre-flight was a waste of time because the lavs and potable water system were frozen solid anyway.
Flight canceled.
I've seen blizzards in New Hampshire in APRIL...AFTER the spring thaw.
Such is life.

(14,881 posts)yesterday and today are beautiful, sunny and warming up again.
And then I have 4 days off, which are all predicted to be cloudy, with 2 of them rainy and/or snowy. sigh...
btw, I think you were missing in action right when I posted my "movie" of Dahli and me. I'll post it here jic...I look at it to remind myself that once upon a time I was able to ride my little girl.

Most of the snow is melted. We still have mountains of dirty snow created by plows but a little more rain or sun and they'll be a memory until next year. The only weather problems now are high winds and flash flooding.

(14,881 posts)a lot of thawing and, unfortunately, a lot of damage done to small pasture areas. starting tomorrow they're going to have to stay in for a few weeks to protect the rest of the pasture and give it a good head start.
Tomorrow it's back to cloudy and rainy, and will be that way for at least the next 10 days, so they won't be missing much. I've started with work in hand, in Dahli's case to start sharpening her responsiveness and just get her thinking again. Having a 2nd horse here changes the dynamic -- every time I annoyed her, she looked to Maizie for support. I need to nip that in the bud now. Algiers "protected" her from me and I wasn't really able to train her until he was gone. But they've got to both look to me for leadership and guidance now, period. For Maizie, it's fundamental respect work. She just plows right through/over whatever/whoever is in front of her.
On the long, quiet shifts at the urgent care center, I've discovered tons of training videos from various disciplines. I'm watching them to learn new approaches and techniques -- doesn't matter what the discipline is, there is always something you can pick up from any halfway decent trainer. It's helping to motivate me. The pony's were a little freaked out this afternoon. Whaddya mean, move over, move backward, do this, do that?!?! But they both ended up learning some new lessons and thinking things over. Hmmmm....
