Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsHeaded for Istanbul tomorrow
on a factor-visit junket paid for by an audio manufacturer over there.
Already set up for a sightseeing tour to check out all the history. Prepared to gorge on what I have been repeatedly told is a great and underappreciated world cuisine.
Can't wait!

(12,029 posts)I'm sure you'll visit the sultanahmet neighborhood and grand bazaar, but the best restaurants are across the bridge in Beyoglu (ps the G is silent). Very safe, lowest crime rate in Europe. Be sure to try a good kebab house, and the fish is terrific.

(5,260 posts)It was during Ramadan. In the evenings they had a big fest near the Blue Mosque.

(33,688 posts)The food is off the hook as is the hospitality. Sightseeing begins tomorrow with the Grand Bazaar.
This is a beautiful city and I haven't seen that much of it yet. Staying at the Fuat Pasa hotel. which is marvelous and right on the sea on the European side of the straits.
Loving it!
