You know what they say in the eating competition world: its not the size of the man that counts, but the steel in his stomach. Or, in this case, the size of the woman. Molly Schuyler, a well-known competitive eater and 120-pound mother of four, took on a seemingly impossible task: to eat three giant steak dinners in under one hour at the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, Texas. Not only did Molly clean her plate (which consisted of three 72-ounce steaks, three baked potatoes, three shrimp cocktails, three salads, and three rolls), but she did it all in just under 20 minutes, according to the Amarillo Globe-News. This means that she ate almost one-tenth of her body weight in steak in less than 20 minutes quite an accomplishment indeed. According to the Big Texan challenge, she got her meal free (and then some!).
Weve seen a lot of things come through these doors but Molly... she takes the cake... she takes lots and lots of cake, Bobby Lee, Big Texan co-owner, told the Amarillo Globe-News.
Schuyler is no stranger to competitive eating. Shes the number one independent female competitive eater in the world, according to her Facebook page, and she even broke the famous Joey Jaws Chestnuts record at a previous Big Texan Steak Ranch challenge, where she consumed one of the 72-ounce steak dinners in under five minutes in May 2014.
Schuyler told USA Today that she looks forward to breaking her own record next year with the addition of a fourth steak dinner.

(27,247 posts)That's 13 1/2 pounds of steak alone. Heck, I probably couldn't eat that much steak in one month.

How is she eating like this and stays at 120 lb?

(65,042 posts). . .work out like maniacs to keep their metabolism super high. The japanese guy, Kobyashi, only weighs something like 140, and he has 18" upper arms, and 30 inch thighs. (His thighs are bigger than his waist.)
That seems to be the secret for most of these folks. Burn TONS of calories every day, then gorge in an event.

(95,337 posts)The best competitive eaters stay in shape and exercise like crazy. I know one of the winners of Wing Bowl (the wings eating competition held right before the Super Bowl here in Philadelphia) was this woman who was only like 98 pounds. I think this woman has also won Wing Bowl. Competitive Eating is one of the few sports where Men and Women compete as equals.

(95,337 posts)All those competitions can be sanctioned by the league - that they meet certain guidelines. And then from the competition the players can earn points towards their ranking.
Think it this way. It's probably setup the same way as tennis is done. Around the globe professional tennis players can compete in all these various tennis tournaments and depending on how they finish they score points which determines how they rank overall in the league. Competitive eating works kinda the same way.

(25,816 posts)When I was there, having a regular sized meal, a Canadian guy decided to take the challenge. If you can eat a 72 oz steak
with a football sized baked potato and a salad in an hour or less, you get it for free. Otherwise it's about $40.00.
He was seated at a table on a raised platform in the center of the restaurant and an hourglass was timing him.
People cheered him on as he plowed through his meal, but gradually slowed and looked uncomfortable. He failed.
There is a giant rocking chair as you first come in and I had my picture taken in it, looking like a baby.

(18,837 posts)...was whatever figure I'd read years ago about how much undigested red meat the average meat-eater has in their system when they die. That's ANOTHER record this woman is in the process of setting.

I am thoroughly disgusted.

(95,337 posts)You'd think a top ranked competitive eater would be someone who is this giant size overweight person and a few of them are. But the best are actually very healthy and athletically built. I've read a few actually follow vegetarian diets when not in competition. It really is down to how you train your stomach for the day of eating since the stomach is a muscle.

(89,249 posts)And the faster you do it the better because taking longer would give time for feeling of fullness to reach you making it harder to keep eating.
