There are several videos on youtube, suggesting that it happens often.

(5,364 posts)Co-ordination not developed enough. Same with humans I guess. Ever see a toddler try to run, only to fall down forward after a half-dozen or so steps?

I like when puppies run, then try to stop. Every stop is a crash landing. And they don't care.

(21,852 posts)Heads are disproportionately large in babies and puppies. The puppy is putting his heavy head down to eat and he's thrown off balance.

(24,376 posts)I suppose English and French bullies are too, as they do have big ass heads!
We had Bostons in our home while I grew up and had probably 15 or 20 litters of puppies over the years. If they weren't tipping over into the food, they were standing in the middle of it!

(30,761 posts)I used to read it to my kids often. The most descriptive phrase of puppy behavior appears in that book: roly-poly, pell-mell, tumble-bumble. That is puppy behavior, no matter what they are doing.
It always made my kids laugh.
