but i could not bring myself to pay for this one... i won't put even one dime of my money into Mayweather's pockets. i know he will get it anyway and i know my little protest doesn't count for much but it's all i have.

that said, i hope you and your friends enjoy the fight and that it's a good match! nothing much better than getting together with good friends and good food for...just about anything!

I say that as a totally innocent question. I don't know anything about boxing.

Agree that Mayweather knows how to brand himself. He's also pound for pound the best in the world. Hopefully that ends tonight.

bragging about money, conspicuous consumption, those are Floyd Mayweather's negatives outside the ring. His opponent Manny Pacquio is a more likable person. He's incredibly popular in his home country of Panama, and seems more funny & self-deprecating. He's often described as The People's Champion.

In the ring, Mayweather is one of the greatest pound for pound boxers. At 46-0, he comes prepared in every fight. His style involves tactical brilliance, blazing speed & nearly perfect defense. Pacquio's style is more aggressive. He's been in some of the most exciting fights of the past decade, including a stunning knockout of Oscar De La Hoya. Boxing fans have wanted this fight because they are the two best & most exciting boxers in the world.

I'm rooting for Pacquio. It's gonna very difficult for him to outscore Mayweather on points though. His best hope may be a knockout or technical knockout. Hope that helps a bit.

He's a class act all the way around. He's rooting for Pacquiao. But he's picking Mayweather. He's fought them both and he feels Mayweather knows how to win on a decision.

There's a great interview with Shane Mosely and Oscar De La Hoya, both of whom have fought both Mayweather and Pacquiao, with Jim Lampley on youtube or maybe on HBO's web site. Shane is the same. He picks Mayweather too.

My dad was a boxing fan, something I didn't inherit. Even though my grandfather happened to be named Jack Dempsey.

Just an Irish immigrant who happened to share the name. Though Grandpa Jack was good with his fists and used them on any intruders in his Bridgeport, Chicago Irish neighborhood. You could see the back of Mayor Daley's house from his back porch, and the lights flashing at Commiskey from his front stoop when the Sox scored.

My head says Mayweather. My heart says Pacquiao. Every fighter, even one as close to perfection as Mayweather, eventually meets his match. I'm glad I don't bet.

Pacquiao TKO round 9.

in the Nevada figthing body (whateve sanctions these bouts) stand up, take the mic from the announcer and decree that Mayweather has been banned from fighting in Nevada for his serial domestic abuse.

knowing that won't happen, KO for Pacquiao... early. i don't think he can go deep with Mayweather.

To show how entirely screwed up Mayweather's camp is, they just refused to give Rachel Nichols & Michelle Beadle credentials. In other words, they banned them from the fight. Nichols and Beadle are both excellent sports journalists who have been outspoken about Mayweather's domestic violence. You can read about it and watch the video discussion of it here.

I'm going to meet some friends and see The Avengers.

I'm a big, big boxing fan.

A few weeks ago, I found out that the famed Las Vegas fight doctor (known as "THE fight doctor') Flip Homansky is the same Flip Homansky I used to sit next to in high school back in the late 1960s.
