If that's not enough... add some weight to the trailer (and check to see if the ride height is at all adjustable)

Someone might want to teach the driver how to read the road signs regarding hight restrictions!

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT drive a truck on a "parkway"

Parkways in the NE are not for trucks. Ever.

Not to mention they ALL have signs at the entrance ramps that say "Passenger vehicles only" along with the clearance.

Been driving tractor trailers for almost 30 years including 10 years hauling cars where my height changed with every load and I NEVER hit an overpass, and I drove in Chicago and Detroit where there are 13'6" clearances on the interstate system.

There is simply no excuse for it. None.

Edwin Moses, the infamous "master builder" of NY, was responsible for the early proliferation of parkways, intended to make driving a pleasure for the leisure class. Bridges were deliberately bulit low to keep buses (which were packed with "undesirables", in Moses' view) out, and to keep those nasty urban folk away from the beaches. The construction of transportation infrastructure in NYC, and in many other areas influenced by Moses and his "disciples" acting as consultants, favored private cars over public transport, and many potentially congestion-relieving mass transport lines were blocked from development in favor of parkways and freeways.

Caro's book is an amazing read; much of the political aspect is succinctly summarized in the Wiki article.

Thankfully it is probably quite a bit stronger than all of those truck and camper tops that are made out of sheet metal. It would be a real mess if a train were on that track and someone hit it.

there is at least one segment in there where a train is going overhead and someone in a box-truck tears off their roof. The train doesn't seem fazed by it.

Also, it often looks like people hit the warning sign structure first, and either get stopped or damage their roofs that way.

I think I'm more surprised they haven't excavated the roadway some to give more clearance. You can't raise the trestle due to the limited grade available to the train, so lower it for the vehicle traffic instead. Wouldn't be that difficult, and wouldn't upset the structure of the trestle, so long as they get some decent road engineers (the railroad company would likely insist on providing their expertise; they're all quite picky about their ROWs...)

I think even if they did do the excavation trucks would try to speed through there and pop up and hit the top. It might make for a funnier video.

a truck would get jammed under one of the overpasses. And yes Storrow Drive has signs that say "NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES" and signs with clearance heights. Rush hour traffic was bad enough, but when a truck got jammed, forgitaboutit! They just closed off the drive and you had to find another way.

If I was carrying a tire inflation hose I would have tried an old logger's trick*: dump air before going under. If the driver would have taken the air in his tires down to 50 psi (normal is 100) and drained all the air from his suspension, he would have just barely made it under.
