(1,893 posts)I love this fuckin' movie like crazy and whenever I watch it I listen to this song over and over. Her voice is incredible - I would say, angelic.
That whole final Club Silencio sequence is absolute perfection. No hay banda.

(33,688 posts)Lynch at his best - and MD is probably his very best - rivals any director I can think of. He and Kurosawa are my all-time favorites. I will watch anything by either of them.

(33,688 posts)by a film critic named Greg Olson IIRC. six hundred pages but worth the effort. Covers his personal life - and he's appallingly normal in most ways - and had in-depth analysis of all his films. It's called David Lynch: Beautiful Dark.

(33,688 posts)who passed in 2013, swore that MD was Lynch's riff on the classic noir "Sunset Blvd.". I think he was right and it is one of DL's favorite movies.

(1,893 posts)I can definitely see elements of noir in Lynch's films. And echos of the surrealist movement a la Luis Bunuel. It's no wonder I love him so damn much.
Before long this thread will have me re-watching MD tonight.

(29,414 posts)Unfortunately, Sheila Chandra can't sing any more due to a medical condition that causes severe pain in her mouth (she even has trouble with normal talking.) It's sad because she has one of the clearest singing voices I've heard in a long time.
