5 Reasons You Should Sleep With Your Dog

http://yourlifemax.com/featured/5-reasons-you-should-sleep-with-your-dog/

We all know that dogs can be the perfect companion – so why ban them from the bedroom each night? Allowing your dog to share your bed with you can actually be beneficial and will build an even stronger bond between you and your pooch!

How will this be of benefit I hear you ask? Read on to find out.

1. Dogs Relieve Anxiety And Stress
It is a well-known fact that dogs can relieve anxiety and stress in humans. Research has shown that they can be a great therapy to those who suffer with stress and anxieties, making them feel calm and relaxed. Snuggling up with your dog in bed will make you feel calm and relaxed and will therefore help you sleep better.

2. Dogs Make Us Feel Safe
You always feel safe when your dog is with you – that’s one of the reasons many of us get a dog in the first place – to feel safe. You know that your dog is loyal, and will protect you in any situation. By sleeping with your dog by your side you will feel safe throughout the night and get a good night’s sleep.

The bed is too high. She'll hurt her back jumping off the bed.
Oh, and I don't have room for doggy steps.

Needless to say he slept in another room. I miss that dog, but not his farts.

He could clear out a room faster than anything you've seen.

Not sleeping with my dog is not an available option for me, so it's good that there are benefits and while I certainly agree with numbers 3, 4 and 5 -- numbers 1 and 2, not so much.

My dog is 5 lbs and basically uses terror to rule the bed. It's like sleeping with a little demon. If you've ever had a tiny dog, you probably know, they tend not to be, shall we say, easy going (I'm sure there are exceptions). It's basically like this:

My purpose in his view is a body to snuggle against, but if I should move in the night in a way that displeases him, he will unleash the most unholy LOUD demon snarl, followed by a bite to the face. He likes to bite the face. I think he thinks it gets his point across. So basically this is what I see...

And if that sounds terrible, let me tell you something -- if I could have that little guy bite my face every night of my life for the rest of my life, my god, I would do it in a heartbeat. He's the love of my life, that little psycho. He has cancer now and I'm spending my last weeks with him. If there was anything in the world I could to stop him from leaving me, I would do it. Anything.

So that's the best reason to sleep with your dog. Because every single minute with them is a precious thing, not to be wasted.

to get to the tiny patch they have designated for my sleeping area.

They raise their heads slightly and watch my progress. I can tell by the look in their eyes that they fully expect me to not disturb them as I settle down.

I often fail in this endeavor.
