BBCAmerica - Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell

This is starting tomorrow night. Anyone going to watch it? Most reviews are pretty positive. The only negatives I read were comparing the series to the book -- it's not as detailed. That is usually the case. I have not read the book so I am looking forward to watching this 7 part series. Here's a trailer:

Didn't know it was based on a book. Just thought it was some original programming typical of BBC

The book was wonderful and I have to see what they do with it. Obviously it's not possible to capture all the detail and nuance but the previews look really promising.

BBC is certainly capable of pulling this off. I mean, they did an adaptation of Ghormenghast - which I would have thought was a truly unfilmable super-bloated book trilogy - and it was actually pretty fun and watchable (a little convoluted perhaps, but so were the damn books).

I'll get to watch the first episode but on Monday I'm cancelling satellite service (I was just waiting for Game of Thrones to conclude) so after that, I'll have to purchase it from Amazon. I think it won't be very long after the premiere before it's available to watch instantly? (or so I've been told)

OMG I read that trilogy years ago. But I did not like the adaptation of it. It was just nothing like the way I imagined it. I was surprised they did it also. I always remember the purple sisters.

But hang on till the end because it takes a swift turn and then you're hooked.

I've been watching it and I am smitten with it so far.

While I don't take BBCAmerica on my cable, somehow I have access to BBCAmerica on demand. If I am patient, all I have to do is wait a few days after each airing and I can catch the episodes on demand. I will have to check this show out.
