The sweetest woman around is celebrating her 50th anniversary today. There has to be a correlation between her being a genuine caring, intelligent, sweet person and her marriage lasting 50 years
Congratulations, Peggy! May you have 50 more loving years with your husband
Edit: Peggy has seen all the lovely replies and is very touched. Maybe even a little overwhelmed.
Beautiful replies, all. Thanks celebrating her anniversary

(149,640 posts)Thank you, sweetie...so much!
Do you realize just how OLD I will be if I have 50 more years with my husband???
About 121! gasp. I don't expect to live that long, lol.

(17,997 posts)Sorry it's so late. I know most are in bed or out on a Friday night. But I wanted to get it in before the day was over
121. By then, I think that is entirely possible. And to still be healthy. Look at how many people are living past 100 now. Ya never know!

(53,410 posts)I was only married for 15 years, but then, marriage isn't for everyone. I've been very happily single for 20 years and plan to stay that way till I die. I just wish I had figured out that I'm not supposed to be married. But I rejoice for California Peggy! She and her husband are soulmates and belong together forever.

(18,837 posts)As some of you already know, I used to be DUer Amerigo Vespucci.
Computer died...hard drive failure, could not recover any data, did not remember the email address I used to sign up for DU, so I couldn't ask Skinner for a password reset, and...I'm now Miles Archer.
But back in the Vespucci days, we had some fun with CP's three "coffee table books" combining her photography, her poetry, and...at the time...her penchant for occasional f-bomb carpet bombing. I'm not as active on DU as I used to be so I don't know if that's changed.
This is either a blast from the past for those of you who have seen them, and hopefully a treat for those of you who have not.
Congrats Peggy...you still rock the Casbah. Or as you would say, "the fucking Casbah."
marym625
(17,997 posts)Thanks for pulling all this out. Love it!

(149,640 posts)It hasn't changed.

Thank you for these blasts from the past...I wish they could have been done.

Flag Day (June 14) was my parents' anniversary. My mom used to sing "Makin' Whoopee" and I learned the words as a kid, though I didn't know what they all meant (She also sang "Went to the Animal Fair", which was more on my level)
