And since I know this question will be asked - yes I did faint when I tried to sit up after the donation.

(149,620 posts)Blood is one of the products that we have not yet been able to create in a lab, though they are working on it.
Until that day arrives, we need healthy humans to donate theirs.
I used to work for the Red Cross in blood services and so I really understand how vital your donation was!
I hope you will donate again in the future, when you feel ready. Please eat a nice meal beforehand and get some fluids on board too.

(15,574 posts)I don't say that to brag but to emphasize the fact blood has a shelf life and there is never enough. Plus research suggests that regular blood donations reduce the risk of heart attacks in men, so i thought, 'why not?'

(205,372 posts)Remember to drink plenty of liquids - but be sure to avoid alcohol! I've given blood lots of times, but it affects everyone differently. I have a friend who always passes out, just not right away. And I also want to know what your blood type is. Are you the universal donor or the universal recipient? BTW, kudos to you!

(23,340 posts)I've donated 100+ times, and I still hate that moment. That's a big needle.
You said, ask you anything, right?
Anyway, thanks for donating!
