Decided to watch Sex and the City from the very beginning.

I realized I'd never actually watched the show except for a few episodes here and there with my wife. I did find them entertaining so with a little time on my hands, I'm binge watching. After the first season I've come to the conclusion Carrie Bradshaw is a whiny, needy little girl. Mr. Big should have never called her back (and yes, I do think he's a jerk.)

I must have watched every episode at least 3 times. It had fabulous plots and themes. It really showed that women do not need men and can get along without them. Yes they often tripped over themselves seeking men but the larger picture was clear. The New York setting was picture perfect.

In reality, it's about 4 women who COULD rule the world if they weren't so needy clingy, over concerned about what men thought, and completely hung up on the wrong ones to the point of weakness.

But entertaining, yes it is.

That part was done for entertainment purposes. I still think it showed some great aspects of feminism and the way the world could be.

And that Mr Big was such a jerk. I don't know why Carrie continues with that pig for so long. She always had it going on but was stuck on Preston.

opted out of motherhood to devote herself to herself, in order to reach her full potential.

Nothing wrong with that and I dare say that I know quite a few women who are like her. The problem is that some reach such a level of self-absorption that they really are useless to friends who are raising children. Not sure the show got that part right.

Eventually, they do grow old and when they are no longer the center of everyone's universe, or no longer have the income to reach the high platitudes of the ME...never mind. It just occurred to me that there will always be superficial people around to help feed their egos.

That Carrie and her friends were what gay men would be if they were female.

I never agreed with that, lol. I like my penis, and I like being male.

As others have said, I could never get into it at all. Like Seinfeld or Friends.

I looked at it as some gay men's FANTASY of single women's world. We have fabulous jobs, spend ridiculous amounts of money on clothes and shoes, and have the time and money to constantly go out on our girls night outings (or brunches or long lunches).
