Up at five in the morning on Sunday. Yesterday I got up at six.

My wife always asks me why I get up so early on the weekends. I tell her that I do not know why. I just wake up and can't get back to sleep, so I get up.

It takes about a twelve pack of beer the night before to get me to sleep past eight, but I don't drink anymore. I was still usually up before my wife when I did.

I have brought her breakfast in bed a few times, but I don't want to do that too often and spoil her.

I go out and do a 4.5 mile fitness walk with my pup before it gets too hot.
But, while it sounds like a good idea to sleep in, I find it is much easier to get up during the week when I stay on schedule

And, I don't feel at all guilty about turning up the AC in my bedroom and taking a short nap late morning or after lunch.

... despite the fact that I haven't milked a cow in 45 years. It's one of the benefits of growing up on a dairy farm.

I'm sure it is from 30 years of making my living by telephone as a railroad engineer. You learn to sleep lightly so you dont miss your call. Now I am retired, and still cant sleep

the question is what do you do once you are up?
Weekends are a time to ease into the day
