12 years ago tomorrow

Tomorrow is the 12th anniversary of the car accident that changed my life. It changed my body and my mobility. It took my unborn daughter.

When I was in the hospotal, every day my family would print the messages from my friends here in The Lounge. I will never forget the support that came from DUers. It meant so much to me.

Since that time, I have come and gone from this community, heavily active at times, seeming to disappear for months and months. This primary season brings me back pretty regularly.

My son will be 11 soon. He's an amazing reminder that everything comes with gifts as his conception would not have been possible had my womb not been so violently vacated. He is very interested in social justice and wants to help me with all my volunteer activities. He's amazing.

You are another reminder that everything comes with gifts, because i can never think about that terrible time without remembering how much love and support came from this group.

I just wanted to stop by and say that.

Thank you for it.
Your memories will be with you forever, and so will the lessons of the hard times. I'm so grateful that you have your son and that he has you.
