Glaucoma, in other words. (It just sounds a bit creepier the other way.)
It comes from excessive pressure inside the eye. When they measured my pressure last week the left eye was at 48, and my right eye was at 38. (They've never specifically said it, but I believe it's a per square inch measurement.) Today both eyes were down to 5. They say normal pressure is 6-10. The dramatic drop is due to a couple different eye drops. Don't know what will happen if I ever have to go off them.
I've been telling the doctors I have a patch of mist in the right eye, and today they did a test that was actually able to confirm it and even map it. They showed me the map and it matched the misty area exactly. Pretty cool!
Guess I can pretty much give up on that ol' idea I had of ever driving again.
That really sucks.

(28,394 posts)That is a huge drop in pressure. I have been on the drops for years and mine is steady around 11-13.
Unless you have other vision problems, glaucoma itself doesn't prevent you from driving. Good luck!

It's always hard to find out you've got something else wrong someplace. I know it's hard for me...
Hang in there, sweetie...
