Jen and I visited the highest point in Indiana today

1257 feet above sea level. I was looking for a small mountain or at least a big hill, but it was just this little rise out in the middle of farm country. There was a mail box there that contained some information about the site as well as a log in the form of a notebook that we signed. Even though the place is obscure and hard to get to without knowledge of the area, judging from the log people regularly visit there.

We are both very happy. We've gone through some rough times since we've been married, but nothing between us. Just bad stuff happening to the people around us. Things have settled down though and we are all getting through okay. I hope we are in for some good times.

We live in an area west of Sacramento, California that has a lot of farm fields that have been leveled from very gently rolling hills to very flat. We joke about not needing more than one gear on bicycles... the largest hills in our neighborhood were where the sidewalks were bulging from large tree roots lifting up the cement, until the town leveled those! However, we can see the snow-capped Sierra Nevada range on a clear day, and smaller ranges to the west between here and the coast.

The state of Kansas gradually increases in elevation from the east to the west. As such, "Mount" Sunflower, while the highest point in the state in terms of elevation, is indistinguishable from the surrounding terrain.

the ranch varies more than that in altitude, and all of it is higher

3800 feet - the lowest spot (we barely touch in two little places, same drainage)

4619 - where the HQ is

5846 - highest spot (top of mountain)

(very cute picture, by the way )
