A new ripoff!

I picked up some cheap TP in a dollar store or some such place. A dozen rolls for 5 bucks or something.

Yes, I know Scott and Marcal give you a thousand sheets, and some of the fancy brands as llittle as 200. And I know those thousand sheets are thin and feeble, so you need more than one and it might even out.

But these were 300 sheets of fluffy stuff, so it seemed like it might be OK. At least worth a shot.

Until I put one on the holder and it flopped around-- fully ONE INCH narrower than a normal roll. That's 20%. And the sheets were a little shorter, too.

I noticed that the roll holder stuck in the bathroom wall is at least half an inch wider than the rolls.

I have always found in paper products that you get what you pay for. There are no "bargains".

But I hate cheap toilet tissue that you have to use ten sheets that still break apart. It is no bargain. I'll look through the list to see if I can find any of those better rated brands around me but I am not buying bargain tissue that does not work. I've tried that before.

I was putting out the recycling and my wife remarked that the toilet paper rolls for the "cheap stuff" had a wider diameter... consistent with the theory that you get what you pay for.

Double roll! Mega roll! Double mega roll!! Super mega extra double roll!!!

Gotta bring a calculator to work out the price per ft2, and that before you even get into the decision of tough vs. soft vs. extra-soft vs. absorbent vs. super-absorbent...

15 years ago you could get any brand for $1 (on sale) for four rolls. All this mega roll crap is absurd. The sizes of the packages change week to week. Why can't they just sell 4 rolls for whatever price? I guess that would cut into their profit margins.

it's more important to wash them before peeing.

After all, my hands have been out there messing with all sorts of potentially nasty things so I have to protect my pee-pee, which has been securely encased in my pants away from all the pollutants.

and work full time I can actually make one roll at least 10 days. I have tried different brands but found Scott gives me actually the biggest bang for my money.
