OMGOSH.... There's a bee keeping my hummingbirds from drinking at the hummer feeder.....

I have a hummingbird feeder attached to my window, and this one bee has been pestering the hummers all day....he hounds them until they leave and he goes in and sits on the drinking hole. They keep flying around the feeder but he's been keeping them from landing. It' very funny to watch.

Aren't all the worker bees female?

Maybe she'll run out of steam later and let the poor hummers have a turn.

got a little jar and will set them free in the back yard......they both are just harassing the hummers. I love my hummers. They have names, gazer, twinkle toes, hump back and bubble nose. That's four that we know of....or that they have the same mannerisms at the feeder so we've named them. Going to try and catch the bees right now......I'll let you know if I succeed.

At any time during the day there are several hundred forager workers out of the hive.

I suggest you check two things: Any drippings or spillage from the feeder. If there is any, that's what is attracting them. Second, the distance between the opening(s) and the sugar water. Bees' tongues are very short. If they can't reach the liquid, they give up.
