Sit ups don't really work. What you need to do is work your abs all at once.
How do you do this? Take a towel and lay it on a tile floor. Position your feet on the towel like you were about to do pushups. Crunch your body and move your feet on the towel directly to your torso, and repeat.
I know it sounds weird, but I have done enough situps and crunches to make cereal jealous. This method is FAR more efficient and effective.
Try it for a week and see if you don't start to get ripped abs. It's cheap, effective and if it doesn't work for you, well you are out just a bit of energy that you were not using anyway.
Be safe - it's a low impact exercise, but you need to make sure that you can maintain balance in a push up position. If you can, then you are good to go. Don't push yourself too hard, though, the last thing I want to hear is that I caused somebody to face plant.

I love her dearly, but I am not inclined to bleed to death.
In any case, though, I just wanted to offer a way to improve your health with a low impact exercise that is also affordable and accessible to all.

It sounds like it does nothing before you actually do it, and then the reality of just how mean of an ab workout you are getting.
It's not really new, I just thought I would introduce some folks to a way to get in shape without spending a fortune.

(51,308 posts)It also looks like a great back stretcher/exerciser...just all round great for your core.
Now I've got to find a floor to do it on, but thanks!

But when menopause hit, hoo boy, things took a rough turn. Especially with my stupid cubicle full time job.
Recently took a part time job that is extremely physical and that is whipping my core into serious shape lol, but I love info like this...I will let you know how it works out if I can find a damn place that is not carpeted!
Please post these hints anytime. Did you cross post in the fitness forum (if there is one lol)?
I know peeps were poking fun at you here on this OP, but I bet most have tried your exercise already.
Aha! The kitchen has no carpet! Damn, it also has the beer and wine...
I'm gonna eschew the beer and wine, get my two towels...and go!
And good on ya on quitting smoking!

This does sound interesting, like a stability-ball pike. I'll try it, when my wife isn't home to see me flop.
