I discovered this on a sidewalk in a beautiful old neighborhood in my town. I saw it and just couldn't resist it. There's a touch of zen about it I couldn't pass by.
I was sitting out on the front deck enjoying the evening when some clouds hid the sun for a few moments. There's nothing special about the shot, other than the texture of the trees against the sky.
I discovered this old fire hydrant behind a little strip mall in my neighborhood. There was something a little lonely and perhaps a bit sad about it- a disused old hydrant all by itself, forgotten and rusting. Something like the Tin Man standing all alone in the yard, waiting for someone to come by and use the oil can.

Very poignant too. Start here.......end of day.......the old hydrant.
They whisper of once-new beginnings that went........where?
Thank you for sharing them!

(54,256 posts)In the middle of about and acre or two of mown grass on a vacant piece of ground, about 30 yards from the road, right smack dab in the middle, is a fire hydrant.
It just looks lonely.
I have no idea why it's there.
The other day there was a wild turkey standing next to it.
