Sun Sep 6, 2015, 09:42 AM
Sep 2015

I mean....there he was, setting it on each side and then he starts to crank on the ratchet.

At what point did he go "That's tight enough"? What tension was he looking for on a PILE OF DIRT? Not to mention that pile of dirt needs at least two straps for proper securement. Cross a scale with only one strap on your pile of dirt and you're likely to get pulled around for inspection! LOL

Gotta admire him, though. He took the time to tie off the long loose end like a good flat bedder so it didn't flap in the wind!

Damn....that's some goofy, dopey, funny shit right there, man.

I was wondering what that was all about. My English teacher mind couldn't quite comprehend it.

I think this is the equivalent of a subject verb disagreement.

SCE, the birds are just amazing. How you find these wonderful bird shots is beyond me, but I love it.

What he should have done was cover it with a tarp and just bungie cord the tarp down. That would at least keep the dirt from blowing off in the wind. But no matter what, carrying a pile of loose material on a flatbed is pretty stupid! The driver has to be VERY careful to take turns gently, start and stop gently, etc. One single strap over the top of a pile of dirt is going to exactly diddly squat! Having said that, I have seen similar in the past. Landscapers for instance, carrying soil or gravel or whatever on a flatbed like that. Just not for too far and not too fast!!

I am seriously curious about this persons mindset though. If it isn't a joke (Which is a distinct possibility) I would really like to have a conversation with him!

What the hell were you thinking?!?

Heretic, you sound just like my brother, in which case, I lubs ya.

My brother is an electrical engineer by training, hands-on landlord in the real world. Sometimes he sends me these emails about his technical challenges that befuddle my English-teacher mind. I admire the ability to think these things through. He doesn't know it, but I try to emulate him in similar situations.

It's an art, for sure.

I appreciate the compliment.

I said this in another thread in GD yesterday;

"Anyone who thinks the human body is the result of intelligent design has never known a proper engineer"

In England, your brother is referred to as a "Sparky" ! LOL.....a Carpenter is called a "Chippy" HE HEE!

I'm betting a conversation with him over a pitcher would be a lot of fun.

And you too! My skills as a writer need a LOT of improvement, so I know I could use the help of an English Teacher!

If he is at all an aviation enthusiast, have him check this out;
