In 2005 I married a straight ticket Republican. Before you all throw up, we had a lot in common. Sex, not to put a too fine point on it. Wow. American politics was an alien land. Whatever else, hatred was not the direction we were following.

She reads DU and is reassured. Democrats can hate Obama as much as she does. I put words and arguments in her way to no avail. Obama 'is worse than Bush'. She delights in pointing out these posts. If OPs hate Republicans, she flips the channel.

I love my wife. I will never let her go. The endearing thing about Americans is that they see things in black and white. As a former Catholic I see a sea of gray.

What's the point of this? I'll tell you. Outside the USA very few people care. I do. My wife cares. We may be coming from diffident directions, but we will not shut up or give ip.

I wouldn't even think of asking her to bite her tongue.

Let's hear from everybody who has dropped the remote control.

I've lived in a dozen countries. I've seen too many people trying to pass off death and torture as par for the course. Sometimes simple is sensible. I actually trust instincts. American instincts. Put the facts in front of an American and they won't hold back.
