The repeat of The Missing Evidence /Twin Towers is on in half an hour

on Smithsonian...
I'm watching on demand now (since it's been on earlier).

Although it probably will wind up to be a whitewash, I did learn something and heard a new thing...I didn't know that the towers were designed to take a plane crash.
The 2005 report said that the protective coating fell off and that lead to weakening of the structure at that point. But , that doesn't explain the total disintegration of the buildings.
And, 118 firefighters said that they had heard explosions prior to the crash...that info was delayed until 2005. I had heard about the "controlled demolition" idea, but didn't know about the firefighter testimony.

The show is arguing that explosives in the towers is ridiculous...they interview this scientist, Frank Greening, who seems to dispel the theories...figuring that the towers could collapse on their own, without any explosives....calculating the momentum, based on the number of floors above the impact points on each building....But he does question the 2005 report, too, about the explosions and their role in weakening the structure...He and another scientist in Norway notice the flow of golden fluid just before the collapse and find out it was the aluminum from the plane that was melting. The report doesn't discuss this at all...Molten aluminum can be quite volatile, it is safe until it meets...water. This results in an explosive amount of energy...So, it seems the plane skin of aluminum had a role in the collapse....Molten aluminum is way more explosive than TNT!! And there have been 250 aluminum plant explosions since the 80's...wow!
30 tons of aluminum in one of the planes means...trouble. Explosions from mixing with water from the sprinklers, and weakening the structure...

However...wasn't Marvin Bush head of security then? And the buildings were open that prior weekend?

I don't know, building 7 just went down so fast...

Sigh...I don't think we will ever know....do you??

I continue to be fascinated by this...my uncle worked for the company that provide the construction scaffolding and I have pictures of him on the roof of one tower before it was finished. He said he was scared stiff....
