(1,965 posts)"Centerfold", was to me, a big step down from "Full House" and Bloodshot", and that commercialism was a big factor in Peter Wolf leaving. That and his refusal to do "covers" rather than all original material, as some of his bandmates wished.
I liked all the early stuff, the 3 bands you listed did. Each of those bands later albums tended to run together and sound the same. Stale. At least to me.

(12,132 posts)Boston - great first album, nothing since.
Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion and a couple other tunes are all I care about. Once they got to the 80s they were pop music that did nothing for me.
The Cars simply have far more songs I love than the other two bands. I like their brand of pop better than Aerosmith's and it may be more than a feeling but I think the foreplay has gone on for too long a time now.

(7,347 posts)I have their album! "Tomorrow" is my favorite song on it.
Of the 3 bands named I'd have to go with the Cars
we can do it
(12,189 posts)Boston takes me back with a smile and so do the Cars, though note quite as much. Aerosmith creeps me out anymore- used to like them, but they should have shut up and stopped dressing so weird long ago.

Just like their style and sound the best out of those 3.
I saw Aerosmith twice in concert and they were very good both times.

(1,005 posts)With Tom Scholz coming out the MIT Media Lab to form the group was way too cool. Brad Delp's death in 2007 was a tragedy.

(541 posts)Mostly because their Moving In Stereo accompanied Phoebe Cates in a memorable scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High. But also because their songs had a funky new age thing happening in the late 70s when I was a young'n. And I loved Benjamin Orr's "I kind of lose my mind / YEAH!!" lyric in Just What I Needed. As a kid i thought that line was hilarious.

never liked Aerosmith, Boston was not my style, I guess.
Cars had great lyrics and I liked their sound. After I moved away, I was glad to hear the Cars because they reminded me of the bands and the scene I was active in while I was growing up in New England, it's a small place with lots of cultural influences so it was always interesting.
