(14,087 posts)They weren't just well-marketed pretty faces. Actors actually worked for it. They were very versatile and had broad-range talent. Now and again we find someone of their ilk these days, but back then, if an actor wanted a job, they had to be able to do it all, for the most part.

(11,175 posts)Unlike "Singin' in the Rain", here we also see Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. Even as to Gene Kelly, working in an ensemble is a better showcase for his talents.
It's also notable how few cuts there are.

(35,675 posts)What cracked me up was the partying donkey!
The colors in the owl picture are simply stunning, as is the owl.
I got a cold last night and have been sipping lemon-ginseng tea, trying to feel better this a.m.-- but when I saw partying donkey, I burst out laughing and felt a lot better.
And "pull for apocolypse!" kept me laughing.
Yesterday I was potting up the warm-weather plants and replacing them with cold-weather plants, so I took a few photos. I have one kitty who goes inside/outside (we're not on a public road, so she's safe), and it never fails: if I try to take a picture of her, she disappears or fails to cooperate in some other way.
Yet if I want to take a picture of my plants, she finds a way to include herself. Every. Single. Time. This cannot be a coincidence.
So here she is yesterday, rubbing her stupid little face on the doorstep:
Later I looked up, and she was rolling around in the sun, having a good ole' time.

(8,175 posts)And the colors in that owl photo are just beautiful. Thanks again, SCE. Two new photos added to my screen saver rotation. I have a ton of them already, but I just can't stop looking at some of them. I already have the leopard appy. I love that one. I wish I had one of those (in mini) running around my yard.
