(2,101 posts)If I was smart enough not to be part of whatever mistake my wife(s) or girlfriends ever made, things wouldn't also be my fault. Not that I was ever able to listen when I should, trying to understand their perspective has kept me in their favor. Anything else is a losing battle.

(2,101 posts)It hurts and there's no getting around it. Learning the importance of holding others blameless let me see that I was wrong to hold others to my standards and beliefs. For anyone else the standards and beliefs they have are equally dear to them; its not like anyone thinks my way is better than theirs. Finding a way to accept that someone else may be happier doing things their own way is hard, but for me it was the only thing that let me get over myself. Holding others blameless is hard to do and it takes time.
