Random Streetview Tourism - Tonaki Island, Japan

Random StreetView Tourism involves dropping the little yellow StreetView pin on some random part of the world in Google Maps (http://maps.google.com).

It's an excellent way to connect with the world on a budget. It allows you, at least on some small scale, to virtually experience life outside your immediate vicinity. You can see both the similarities and the differences between different nations, regions, locations.

Same idea, drop down to street view and then "walk" around.

It drops you somewhere on the planet and you figure out where you are. It's supposed to be a game, but I learned a lot about the backwoods of other countries playing it. For instance, the deforestation in Brazil is displayed in appalling detail as is the infestation of wood borers in Scandinavia and Russia.

I'd rather use Geoguessr than trying to make my own "random" selections - they are much more random than I would be!
