The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsI had seven pairs of pants set back from when I was thinner.
They date back to when I first met my wife five years ago. I took them out and tried them all on today. They are a little snug, but I could wear them now if I wanted to. I'm going to wait until I lose another ten pounds or so before I start wearing them again.
But it feels damn good to be able to fit into those pants again. My wife has a picture of me on the fridge from when we first met and I'm wearing a pair of those pants in it. It's hard for me to believe I've dropped over 50 pounds in two months. I hate to think that I let myself go like that, too, but, believe it or not, I put on that weight trying to be a healthier person. I quit smoking about 3.5 years ago and that's where that weight came from.
I had blood work done as a part of a bi-annual checkup, recently, and I did a physical last week. The obesity trouble spots (blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol) are all within healthy range without me taking any medication. I probably would not have been able to say that 50 pounds ago. I still have to use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea, but in another 50 pounds I might be able to give that up. It will require some testing, but it will be worth it. However, if I have to keep using it, I can live with that.
