But I've been busy. Is it based off the Arthur C. Clarke book?

Second question: How badly do they butcher it?

One thing to remember is that while Clarke was a fine hardcore science fiction writer, his stories often came off rather flat for characterizations (unless some other writer paired up with him and helped out.) He was not known for thriller and suspense storytelling.

When I saw the ad some weeks ago, all I saw of the original story in it was the idea. They've had to up the drama and suspense considerably to make it palatable for modern audiences.

All of my regular series are over for the season, so I'm looking for something new. The actor who played Barbie in "Under the Dome" is in it.

Found a pretty good preview: http://io9.com/syfy-takes-some-liberties-with-childhoods-end-but-its-1747549738

Which is to promote your show within your own show. I don't need to see "next up on Childhood's End" before every commercial.

"Well, I dreamed I saw the silver spaceships flyin',
In the yellow haze of the sun;
There were children cryin', and colors flyin'
All around the Chosen Ones.

All in a dream, all in a dream,
The loading had begun;
Flying Mother Nature's silver seed
to a new home in the sun.

Flyin' Mother Nature's silver seed
to a new home......"
