And now the wind is picking up! Just got in from shoveling. It is 23 degrees and supposedly feels like eight degrees due to the wind. I believe it! Now that I can get the car out, gotta trek to work. Be careful out there everyone.

(102,291 posts)(rather than my normal 1 1/2-2 hour walk) in heavy unsplowed/unshoveled snow and the whipping winds. My pup loved it, of course, but for me, I was just glad I finally lost enough weight to wear that one piece black ski suit (that the millennials tell me is too unfashionable to wear on the slopes--LOL) Kept me might warm and dry, though walking in heavy snow, sans snow shoes is pretty exhausting. Our pioneer ancestors were TOUGH!

(16,383 posts)I'm pretty fit, yet walking even 15 minutes in the snow and whipping wind would do me in!! And don't worry about looking fashionable, just stay warm.

(18,470 posts)Sorry to hear about all the white stuff.
Meanwhile here in Iowa not a bit of snow in sight. We had so much rain there was some flooding in some low lying areas.

(15,805 posts)by watching it from inside (I'm in Greeley, looks like about 10" . Was a time I'd venture out in it, but it's getting trickier what with fussy joints and all. And the cold has some very interesting effects on my oxygen tubing as well. I'll venture out tomorrow, though, don't want to miss our county Dems holiday party!

(16,383 posts)About the fussy joints. I should have known this was coming due to how achy I was over the weekend and Monday. Who needs a barometer when you have OA?
Enjoy your party!

(12,154 posts)with all the blowing snow, it's hard to say how much we have so far. I think 6-8 inches. It's still snowing but not blowing as much now. I have been shoveling every hour all day for Ty and Abby, but now I am going to put pee pads down in the garage for them. Too cold outside for any of us. I hate snow. So do they.

(16,383 posts)My catahoula mix is 50 lbs but has just a thin layer of hair. I have to put a water-proof, lined coat on her for walks. She HATES to squat in the snow to pee and I don't blame her; don't think I'd like that either. LOL.

(12,154 posts)say that? I guess I thought that since I knew, everyone else should too.
Abby is an elderly very small Boston terrier who is blind, mostly deaf, and with a bit of arthritis. I carry her outside and back in.
Ty is a middle-aged brown poodle with no real health issues, but he's definitely an inside doggy too.
Neither Ty nor Abby will wear sweaters or boots, so I think the garage is a better pee and poo place for them than outside is, poor things. Poor me too, since I stay out there with them while they go and carry them both back inside...Abby because she can't see and Ty because by then his paws are frozen. Anyway, there are mountain lions around here and I'd never leave my babies at their mercy.
I don't blame your dog one bit for not liking to squat in the snow. Like you, I wouldn't either!

(16,383 posts)Boston's don't have much hair either. It's tough for some pooches. My catahoula girl was born deaf although she is great with sign--as long as she chooses to look at me. HA.
