(1,958 posts)Other than visits to the vet for shots, I only had to bring a cat to a vet twice. Once, to have the family cat put down when he was 20 years and 5 months old (I was 27. It was one of the most difficult things I ever have done.)
The other cat lost a fight with another cat and had a wound on his face that became infected. The vet cleaned the wound and we had to give him Amoxicillin just like you give it to your child with an ear infection. Well, it worked once. He would not let us squirt the Amoxicillin down his throat again, so we had to mix it with canned cat food. He refused to eat it until he got hungry enough.
The current cat only gets to go outside on our elevated deck.
