and sometimes just speaking up can change something for someone else.
I had one of those moments today. Out doing last minute shopping at Michael's--to buy frames and photo albums--for photo gifts for Christmas.
The woman ahead of me in the cashier line had three blank canvases that she expected to get at a 3 for price of 1. The cashier told her
the promotion was over since it was only applicable yesterday--and the woman said the promotional pricing was still up back where she picked
up the canvases. A manager was called and went back with her to see. They came back and the manager said, "sorry". So the woman said
to take two of the canvases out. At that point I asked the cashier how much was one, and when she gave me the price I turned to the woman
and said, "Merry Christmas". And I told the cashier to put the two canvases on my bill. Well, the woman wouldn't accept--she thanked me but
said she couldn't possibly accept. I told her that she could pay it forward sometime...but no, she would not accept the offer.
Well, what can you do?
At that point the manager and cashier started working numbers and entering codes and then the cashier put the two canvases BACK in her cart
and told her it was ok.
So! What happened? I guess by offering to pay for the canvases I shamed the manager into using some override ability he had to give her
the 3 for 1 price!
The woman was very nice. She thanked the cashier--and me--again.
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
