Just seen: a bottle of peanut oil.

(21,020 posts)as much as it was an action...
One of my previous bosses used to cut his toenails on his desk while talking on the phone.
When he died and his son took over the business, the son would talk to people on the phone while taking a dump.

(4,616 posts)that is pretty weird....
senior boss cutting toenails in his office.
No to junior boss taking a dump in the office.
They were both pretty uncouth.

(8,492 posts)...he/she invited you out to lunch and on the way out the door said, "hey, Bertha...grab that bottle of peanut oil."
I'd hesitate.

(15,774 posts)over a multi million dollar law suit (that he won BTW), the secretary had a lingerie sale in his office on the top level suite. The negligees made for interesting decor. This was a big multinational corp, which made it even funnier. One of my cherished company memories. The guys frequently settled their differences out back if you catch my drift.

(41,210 posts)but the strangest thing I've seen in a senior colleague's office was probably a grandfather clock.
The weirdest thing that I've ever had in my office probably tops that, however: it was a lawnmower. And I don't even have a garden! I was briefly storing it for someone else.

(115,836 posts)This was many years ago. He was a partner in a law firm; I was an associate. I was working late one evening and I went into his office to get a file. His secretary was in there standing in front of an open attache case full of cash. When she saw me come in she quickly slammed the case, glared at me and told me this was none of my business.
The boss had just come back from a conference with a client in Florida.
I never found out what was going on; I left the firm a few months later. I did tell someone else in the firm about what I saw but nothing ever came of it that I was aware of. This guy was one of the most obnoxious, sexist, crude, generally assholish people I've ever had the misfortune to work with. He was fired from the firm some time after I left - I heard he'd been accused of sexual harassment, which I'm sure was true.
