I quit buying computers long ago.

Repairable computers, or computers others consider obsolete, are essentially free in my community. I'll replace a broken or missing hard drive with an SD card, install Linux, and I'm good to go.

I did buy a $35 Raspberry Pi to play with. It's similar to the palm-sized computer in this post, but no case.

There's a newer $5 Pi that's just been released, but it's only got 512 MB RAM and one USB port. If you want more stuff, you've got to build it out yourself.

Such a machine is still powerful enough to browse DU and other sites that don't go crazy with the Javascript and video advertisements.

There are quite a few Pi clones, and similar little Made-in-China boards too.

I'm posting this morning on a little ARM powered machine running ChromeOS, which is google's version of Linux.
