So I saw Mad Max:Fury Road. Not sure WTF I just watched.

I'm pretty sure I didn't hate it. No clue if I liked it. Maybe I did?

Visually it grasped your attention with just some completely out of left field characters. I don't know about the story though. But those weird ass characters, I have to admit I loved just because they were so absurd....

Immortan Joe? That guy on the flame shooting guitar? Those stilt people walking around in the swamp without any explanation?

I'm absolutely puzzled but somewhat fascinated.

I thought the story worked that way too.

It wasn't at all what I expected, and that was a good thing.

It's George Miller's hyperimaginative, post-apocalyptic vision of the remnants of civilization, where the key trading commodities are water (controlled by Immortan Joe), bullets (traded with the Bullet Farm), and guzzlene.

Most everyone suffers from radiation effects and deformities, and Immortan Joe has created a worshipful cult of doomed fanbois who have their own post-modern religious symbols (steering wheels vs. crucifixes) and rituals ("Witness me!" as they spray their lips silver).

But Joe wants a normal heir instead of his other mutant sons. And when Joe goes on the warpath, he heads out with a guitarist, a stack of speakers, and tom-tom drummers (instead of bugles) to energize his troops.

It may not be everybody's cup of tea, but it is a most awesome movie and well-deserving its Oscar nominations. It will be on your mind for a few days after you see it.

It even managed to get a love story in among the never ending wreckage. I think it's Oscar worthy for sure.

It wasn't too heavy on story. I didn't think it should win any awards.
