https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalton_HighwayI drove the part from Livengood to the Arctic Circle sign. If I had more time, appropriate supplies and enough gas, I would have gone all the way to Deadhorse and back.
A sample of the beauty:
It's a very beautiful and unforgettable trip. I would only recommend doing it from June to late August.
Good advice there. It's a very rough road, so be ready to be jarred quite a bit.

(68 posts)I lived in Squarebanks for a year and went north because of my job.
Its lovely in the non winter months.
From what I hear they are scared the river is going to flood it again this year and make it inaccessible.

The Dalton Highway reopened to traffic Friday morning as planned, following an 18-day closure caused spring breakup flooding from the Sagavanirktok River.
The highway, the main supply route for North Slope oil fields, opened to two-way traffic at 8 a.m., the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said in a release.
Drivers can expect flaggers and a pilot car from Mile 412 to 414, and rough road conditions through the flood zone, from mile 392 through mile 414.
