We found one today in the woods by the house. My 7 year old son wanted to keep it for a bit and observe it. I imagine there are different types of garters. This was found in western Ohio if that makes a difference. We want to keep it for a few days but dont know what they like to much on. I assumed they like mice and frogs. Be he looks too small to eat one of those.
What treats will it feast upon?
Thanks.

(25,586 posts)Two or three feeder fish twice a week. Pinkie mice can be a problem for small ones; if you're willing to dismember a pinkie (which, quite frankly, I wouldn't be) then feeding pieces is often a good system.
