Shows about Rome (excepting the kind-of-recent and excellent HBO special) didn't show the sewage in the gutter

That gun shot deaths are not slow and painful, excepting the hero/hero's love interest

That people recover from gun shots without years of physical therapy

That oil paintings from before 1950 don't show smallpox scars everyone had (excepting milkmaids)

That war movies don't show you shitting in your pants before battle (I know about that one personally)

Etc.
